Here’s the ‘cred of behind our stellar line up:
Headliner: Matt O’Brien
Matt O’Brien is a Toronto-based comedian and long-time favorite of Comedy Uncovered (and we called it! Check out his Q&A here!) Matt’s been featured on Comedy Uncovered on MTV, Fuse TV, MuchMusic and The Comedy Network. He has won the Best Standup award at the LA Comedy Festival and has been named Sirius XM Radio’s Next Top Comic. He hosts and films his own late night talk show, hosts his own Podcast Rehash and his 6-second Vine sketches have garnered him over 15,000 followers. He was also nominated as COCA Comedian of the Year.
STAND UP: Sandra Battaglini
Battaglini’s surname translates to “small battalion of soldiers,” and it’s an appropriate image for the feisty comic, who can do character work, improv and stand-up with equal ease. Whether she’s co-hosting the Sal And Sandy Show with creative partner Phil Luzi or commanding the stage in one of her solo shows, such as Classy Lady, she never runs out of comedy ammunition. Plus, she JUST won the 2015 Best Female Stand Up in Toronto!
IMPROV by The Bad Dog Repertory Players
The Bad Dog Theatre Company’s is thrilled to introduce the Canadian Comedy Award nominated Bad Dog Repertory Players. Hand-picked by Bad Dog’s Artistic Director and veteran improv performer, Julie Dumais this 14-person cast is a veritable who’s who of the cutting edge of Canadian improvisers. With a mandate to create dynamic and original improvised formats, the Bad Dog Repertory Players made their highly anticipated debut in May of 2012 and return to Comedy Bar with a new show every other month. Individually this group of familiar faces has won awards, been on television, published books, starred in popular web series, appeared at fan conventions, taught hundreds of students, written plays and performed all across North America. Hailing from all corners of the country (Vancouver, Halifax, Toronto, Edmonton, Montreal, Regina, Ottawa and even exotic Burlington!) the Bad Dog Repertory Players are a dream team of improvisers so delighted to perform together, their energy is infectious.
HOST: Bobby Knauff
Bobby has performed on The Fresh Meat Showcase at The Second City, XM Radio’s Laugh Attack (many times), as well as had numerous appearances on MTV Canada and Much Music, a guest role on CTV’s “Insecurity” and has been the opening act for Greg Proops, Maria Bamford, Robert Kelly, Greg Behrendt, and Big Jay Oakerson.
Bobby has also been a part of the NXNE Music and Comedy Festival and JFL 42 in Toronto, was a semi-finalist in Sirius XM Canada’s Next Top Comic in 2013 and won the 2012 ‘Toronto Comedy Brawl’, which began with over 200 comics. Bobby is also one half of the sketch duo “The Two Sues” with Josh Stone. Bobby enjoys talking about his minor accomplishments in the third person and also enjoys the company of cats over people.
We can’t tell you who, but we’ll have a very special guest. You’ll want to see it!
